Before & After ✨ Soft Cutcrease Evening Makeup in 10 Steps ✨

This is my first before and after makeup style I have documented and I’m so happy I’ve finally brushed up my skills and did this! I’d love to share with you how I did this step by step.

Step 1 – Clean, cleanse, tone, moisturise and prime; I used 9 to 5 cleanser and Breathe Of Fresh Air toner (both by Lush!) Nivea’s Light Moisturising Day Cream and L’Oréal’s Infallible Primer. Each product I used I left a five minute gap between each step to let the skin dry and absorb, which should ALWAYS be done before any makeup application. 25 minute skin prep time.

Step 2 – Eyelashes; I buy bulk in eyelashes and I used a set I actually purchased from eBay. I trimmed the lashes to size and applied using Amazing Shine Eyelash Glue in clear. I like to get my eyelashes done first as I find it more tricky to do it later. Some people prefer doing it last but that’s just how I feel comfortable. 10 minutes (or more if your finding it tricky)

Step 3 – Colour correction; Then I applied skin colour correction colours from my Revelolution pallete. I mainly use green as I tend to get a bit of redness and blemishes and pink around / under the eye area to eliminate dark tones. I used a foundation brush to apply, then a beauty blender to blend in. 10 minutes colour correcting.

Step 3 – Foundation & Concealer; MAC Studio Fix Fluid is my go to foundation mixed with a little Revelon Photoready Airbrush Effect foundation to get the right colour. It’s always good to mix foundations to get the right tone. Applied with foundation brush then blended with beauty blender. L’Oréal Perfect Match concealer was then used a little down the nose, under the eyes, in the middle of the forehead / just above eyebrows and chin. I also add a little primer to my foundation. A dusting of banana 🍌 powder like Kim K sweeped across the forehead, chink and a small amount under the eyes. Not too much under the eyes as after a while it can make fine lines more visible. Powders area great great for those who get oily skin like myself. 15 foundation and concealer application.

Step 4 – Contour; I only did minimal contouring and I used the Revolution Concealer Pallete for this. I dabbed a beauty beauty blender into a slight darker shade than my skin tone (noticeably darker but not too harsh) then dabbed and blended under my cheek bones, top of my forehead, down each side of my nose then jaw line. Concealer was then applied between jawline contouring and cheekbone contouring and blended in for more effect. 10 minutes contouring. 

Step 5 – Eyebrows; I used a thin eyeliner brush by Real Techniques, with the darkest shade of concealer in my pallete. I prefer to use dark concealer to powders. I then applied a eyebrow gel and tidyed the brows with a concealer brush and L’Oréal concealer. 7 minutes for eyebrow application.

Step 6 – Eyeliner and Cutcrease; I prepped my using a eye primer first. I used my Revolution liquid eyeliner to cat flick the eyes, a light pink shimmer on the lids and drew a then light brown line about half a cm above the outer flick and then followed it back over the crease in my eye. I used a light brown shadow above this and then blended. Along the bottom of the brown I added a thin line of gold glitter eyeliner. If you make a mistake (like I did) you can use concealer to clean it up. Also to you use the concealer on a thin brush to go between the cutcrease and eyeliner to really clean it up. 20 minutes eyeshadow application 

Step 7 – Highlight; I brought a new highlighter from Revolution today and highlighted the inner corners of my eyes, above my cheek bones and on the tip of my nose. I also like to use a little highlighter on the Cupid’s bow of the lip. 5 minutes highlighting. 

Step 8 – Lips; I used Huda lip liner in Trend Setter and then filled in with Kylie Jenner Koko K. I like to line just below my bottom lip a little more. 5 minutes on lips. 

Step 9 – Fix it; Tonight however I used Revolution Fixing Spray. 30 seconds to fix that all in place!

Step 10 – RELAX!  Estimated 110 minutes for full look application (with faffing around getting sorted, washing skin, correcting mistakes etc)

I added rough time estimates for each step as I want my readers to be aware to perfect makeup styles it takes time. It also takes time for the makeup to settle on the skin, which is important to not rush certain steps like steps 1, 3 and 4 especially. Its important to leave plenty of time for makeup if you want to perfect your look. It won’t always take this long as you’ll find shortcuts and your own techniques. I am training currently as an MUA and I’m loving it!
